Black Obsidian is a naturally occuring glass, an igneous rock formed under specific volcanic conditions. It is valued for it's deep black color and incomparable sharpness when fashioned into a blade or point.

It is believed that obsidian is a powerful, grounding stone that provides protection from negative energy, and helps one to 'cut through' to the truth; straight to the 'heart of the matter.'
